Some flowers just call out to be painted and this was the case with a bunch of very pretty stocks that a good friend bought me.

I sketched various of the blooms - enjoying the heady fragrance as I did so. I'm definitely hoping to grow some in our garden next year!

So far the stocks sketches have appeared on their own on an apron (shown opposite) I chose a strong purple for the background but a number of other colours would work well.

I also incorporated one of the sketches into the design Dunston, a the stock featured as a placement print on one of the scatter cushions for the kitchen bench.

It's a very adaptable design which I'm looking forward to showing in a variety of different forms.
