Magnolia
I love magnolia trees for their spectacular flowers. They often open on bare branches when spring weather is unpredictable, offering patches of glowing colour against the wet trees.
The sketches for my Magnolia design were done on a trip to Cornwall with friends and a visit to the gardens of RHS Wisley.
The large petals with graduated colour are an open invitation for anyone who enjoys playing with watercolours - and one of the reasons I carry a small travel paint set with me!
The first large sample arrived the morning I was setting up for an event at Ardingly - so was quickly added to the display and received many lovely comments.
I love this design as fabric, but it would also make a beautiful wallpaper.
After the initial Indigo colour way, I decided to try the design on grey and was really happy with the result.
Another colour is now on the way - watch this space!
