Crocosmia

Crocosmia are one of those flowers that thrive in our garden. Some people would say they can become a bit much - they certainly do spread! But I love the way the pointy foliage which appears first is such a vibrant, glowing green. Then it's followed by equally vibrant orange flowers, at a point in late summer when our garden has lost many early season blooms.

The colour is welcome and the benefit of them being so prolific is that I never mind cutting some to bring in the house to sketch or just admire.

Here the Crocosmia design is enlarged to create a placement print on a soft velvet cushion. The reverse is a deep toning orange.
