Dunston

Dunston is named after our home in West Sussex, where we've lived for over 20 years.

When having the kitchen repainted at the end of 2025, we replaced the curtain and blinds, and I took the opportunity to design something especially for the room.

Cornflowers featured in my first fabric design, and are still one of my favourite flowers to draw. I had blue and pink cornflowers in my wedding bouquet. When we moved to the house it was early September, so the following spring I was keen to see what came up before planting too many new things. To my delight perennial cornflowers popped up in various places in the borders, and it's these that I often sketch and paint.

The other two types of flower in the design are Cosmos and stocks. The Cosmos was some I'd grown from seed and my greenhouse and transferred to the border when big enough to survive (our borders tend to be rampant and not for delicate tiny plants!) I love the fact that Cosmos looks so delicate but once going it thrives in the border.

The stocks were a part of a bunch a close friend gave me - they were so pretty I Dres several of them whilst they lasted.

Dunston is now available as fabric by the metre, cushions, aprons and tea towels. Available in our shop soon.
