I love daisy type flowers and echinacea are a firm favourite, there's something about the simplicity of the form coupled with the brightness of the colours. They're also late summer flowers, so offer a welcome hit of colour after many earlier season blooms have been and gone.

I am trying to grow more of them in our own garden, but am lucky enough to live near several places where I can see them in abundance.

As a surface pattern design they are very versatile. I created the full colour version first (closeup to the right) and later created the 'silhouette' version which I can do with many different coloured backgrounds.
